PROJECT DESCRIPTION

International Line Builders’ work on this project in Southern California involves construction of a natural gas-fired, simple-cycle peaking and load-following facility to supply power to San Diego County.

Primary equipment for the Pio Pico Energy project included three 100 MW General Electric LMS100 turbine generators. When complete, the facility will have a net generating capacity of 300 megawatts.

ILB constructed a new 230 kV gen-tie overhead and underground transmission line to an existing San Diego Gas & Electric substation, as well as the PPEC switchyard, which includes 230 kV SF6 breakers, CT/PT units, ISO-Buss and H-frame structures.
